78 percent say improve before move

78 percent of people in Spain believe that renovating or improving a property is a better bet than moving in the current market, according to a national survey. The implication is people would rather invest in their home now, so they can reap the financial rewards should they wish to sell in the future and gain personal tax exempts promised by the new government recently elected.

The survey demonstrates that people are still cautious about the property market. 58 percent described themselves as having mixed feelings about the stability of the housing market. Also, 58 percent of respondents hadn’t changed how optimistic or pessimistic they feel about the market since six months ago. However, 14 percent say they feel more optimistic about the housing market than they did at the time of the last survey in 2010.

This survey shows how important and necessary self storage is becoming in Spain, even in difficult times for the economy, with most operators showing positive growth year to year. More and more people are using self storage to keep their belongings out of the way during renovations and works and end up renting long time to keep non essentials out of home in a storage unit.
